While "light-duty" trucks, like the formidable Ford F-150, can handle the majority of truck tasks just fine, there are still some tasks that exceed their capabilities. The percentage of drivers towing more than 13,000 pounds on a regular basis is small, but when you need the extra power, you know it. Ford Super Duty trucks take the dependable and hard-working nature of the F-150 to the next level, with high-torque engine options, reinforced frame and chassis construction, and beefy suspension systems.

The strongest F-150 can tow a little more than 13,000 pounds. It's an impressive number to be sure, but it falls behind the F-250's conventional tow rating of 15,000 pounds, and it's a far cry from the F-350's conventional tow rating of 21,000 pounds. Even more incredible, when properly equipped with a gooseneck hitch, Super Duty can tow more than 35,000 pounds!

New For 2020

The Ford Super Duty lineup sees significant changes under the hood for the 2020 model year. For example, an all-new 7.3-liter V-8 engine is now available. Paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission, it achieves best-in-class ratings for gasoline horsepower (430) and torque (475 pound-feet). Additionally, the available 6.7-liter Power Stroke® V-8 Turbo Diesel received a boost to its already prodigious power numbers, pushing its torque rating into the quadruple digits. It generates 475 horsepower and 1,050 pound-feet of torque! This year, the diesel engine also pairs with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Also new for 2020, the off-road-oriented Tremor package equips Super Duty trucks with earth-shaking off-road capability. The package includes unique 18-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch maximum-traction all-terrain tires, a specialize front suspension, selectable terrain modes, a Dana limited-slip differential, an electronic-locking shift-on-the-fly rear differential, skid plates, and a two-inch front-end lift.
