The New 2019 Ford F-150 - Upholding a Legacy

Ford caught some attention earlier this year for announcing the first all-new Explorer SUV in several years. The latest generation Explorer has been fully redesigned with a new rear-wheel drive platform, updated styling, new features, and much more.

A major part of the story is the reveal of two all-new Explorer models. For the first time, Ford is taking its three-row SUV into high-performance and hybrid technology territories.

Explorer ST

The new Explorer ST is the first of the model that focuses primarily on road performance and power. Ford equips ST models with a ream of upgrades. Chief among them is a standard 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 engine making 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. Power runs through a ten-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system with rear-wheel bias. An upgraded suspension system and upgraded brakes are standard as well. The result is a fast, confident, and downright sporty SUV.

Explorer Hybrid

The 2020 model year marks the first time that Ford is offering an Explorer Hybrid model. This model starts out with a 3.3-liter naturally-aspirated V6 engine and adds an electric motor. Together, the two make a remarkable 318 horsepower and 322 pound-feet of torque. That's far more power than is available in similar hybrid SUV models. In fact, the Explorer Hybrid is rated to tow up to 5,000 pounds.
