Ford took a huge step in the right direction by offering its best-selling truck as an electric vehicle. The F-150 Lighting builds on the regular F-150 to offer fantastic all-electric performance. While it is yet to hit the market, the Ford F-150 Lightning is already attracting quite a bit of attention from truck enthusiasts in Elko.

The F-150 Lightning replaces the traditional internal combustion engine with an all-electric system to meet the rising demand for electric vehicles. In addition, the new model gets an independent rear suspension that improves handling and comfort. Expect a modern interior, an impressive performance and excellent technology in the new F-150 Lightning.

Performance Features

The F-150 Lightning has an available extended-range battery pack and a dual-motor system. It is expected to put out 563 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque sent to all four-wheels in an extended range. On the standard range, the engine makes 426 horsepower and retains the same torque amount. As a result of the impressive power output, the F-150 expects a towing capacity of around 10,000 pounds and a payload capacity of around 2,000 pounds. The F-150 Lightning can accelerate up to the 60 mph mark in under five seconds, which is extremely quick for a truck its size. You can choose between four drive modes, including normal, off-road, tow/haul and sport.

Range and Battery Life

Getting the 98.0-kWh battery guarantees you 230 miles per charge, while the 131-kWh battery increases the range to 320 miles per charge. Aside from charging at public DC stations, you will be able to charge the new F-150 Lightning via 120 and 240-volt outlets at home. Charging from 15 percent to 80 percent can be astonishingly quick, requiring only 44 minutes with the right configuration. A fully charged F-150 Lightning even has the capacity to supply your home with electricity for up to three days during a power outage around Spring Creek, NV.

Interior Features

The Lightning's interior is very similar to the F-150's, except for some slight differences. It's available to Winnemuca drivers with a variety of cabs and beds. You can enjoy taking trips to Carlin, NV in the new F-150 Lightning, courtesy of its adjustable and heated front seats alongside the heated steering wheel. The interior is full of innovative storage solutions that include rear-seat under storage. The front trunk has up to 14 cubic feet of storage space and has two USB ports and four power outlets.

Exterior Features

The Lightning is similar to the gasoline F-150 dimension-wise, but it has a few exterior touch-ups. The front end features a blacked-out chrome grille and a unique LED light bar. It has massive wheels, including 18, 20 and 22-inch options. It also has lights in the frunk, Lightning badging on both sides of the bed and 360-degree zone lighting.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The F-150 Lightning has a conspicuous 15.5-inch infotainment display on the Lariat and Platinum trims. Standard models get a 12.0-inch touchscreen display with Amazon Alexa, Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ capability. Moreover, the F-150 Lightning has in-dash navigation and Wi-Fi hotspot as standard. The Platinum model has a 12-inch instrument cluster and a premium audio system with up to 18 speakers.

The Ford F-150 Lightning has an array of safety features in its various trim levels to keep you safe during your trip to Battle Mountain. They include cross-traffic alert, reverse sensors, blind-spot warning and adaptive cruise control. Also, the model has steering assist, automatic emergency braking, active lane control and speed sign recognition.
